Power is the province of a warrior, and this Oggun – God of War, Iron, and Hunting Statue is definitely a godly statue that has power in spades. It also features a high level of detail that makes it a wonderful accent piece worthy of any collection. Oggun is a Yoruba deity, one that is closely linked to that of a warrior. As such, Oggun is depicted as being triumphant and immensely powerful, but also a deity full of rage and destruction, as well as a violent god whose strength must be yoked for the greater good of the community. This statue captures Ogguns face as a warrior, depicting the god as a powerful tribal warrior who is armed with a wicked saber, held high above his head in a striking position, while also carrying a shield with which to defend himself. Around his feet are other symbols of the god Oggun, including an anvil, indicating his position as a smith and metal worker, as well as a pot filled with other items, likely including rum and tobacco, which are two attributes commonly associated with him. The base is flattened ground and features the gods name, Oggun, in the front. The statue is made entirely from cold cast bronze, which is a resin that has been mixed with powdered bronze to give it a beautiful metallic luster. The statue has also been hand-painted to better enhance some of its impressive detailing. The statue stands approximately 3.5 inches tall. You do not have to be a part of the Yoruba faith to appreciate this accent, as the Oggun – God of War, Iron, and Hunting Statue is an impressive and detailed accent that collectors and enthusiasts the world over can appreciate, thanks to its detailing and its background.
