    Larimar History and Uses:
Larimar was first discovered in 1916 in Barahona in the Dominican Republic. It wasn’t mined until 1974 when the source of this remarkable blue stone was found in the Bahoruco Range. It was named by its discoverer after his daughter Larissa and mar, meaning sea, where he had first found the stone washed up on the beach. Larimar is a rare and unique pectolite, its blue color and resemblance to the sea come from cobalt or copper substituting for calcium. This calming crystal carries a strong energetic connection to dolphins and the sea, reminding us to embrace change and go with the flow.

    Larimar Geological Description:
Larimar is a sodium calcium silicate mineral with a hardness of 4.5 to 5. It forms in cavities within basaltic lava and comes only from the island of Hispaniola, in the Caribbean Sea
