Unakite is a mottled combination stone found in various shades of pink orthoclase feldspar and green Epidote, from the Greek word epidosis meaning growing together. It is named after the Unaka Mountains in Tennessee, where it was first found. It is sometimes known as Epidotized Granite or Grandodiorite.
Unakite Geological Description:
Unakite is a microcrystalline variety of Quartz, a silicon dioxide mineral with a hardness of 6.5 to 7. It is found all over the world, including large deposits in India, Russia, Brazil, France, Germany, and the USA.
